Physical Access
Entry to Mona depends on your transport method, but all routes have step-free options.

If coming by water, we have an alternative entrance to the museum via tunnel if you need it (avoid the 99 steps). If this is you, make yourself known to staff on the ferry. The ferry departs Hobart from Brooke Street Pier (accessible via lift and ramp).

If coming by road, the museum is approximately 300m from the main car park and approximately 150m from the bus stop/drop-off area.

Multiple seating options are available throughout the museum and the Mona site.

Toilets
All gender and accessible toilets are available throughout the museum. Most of them have baby change tables. Sharps bins are available in the accessible toilets on the Ground and B3 levels. Refer to the O or ask staff to point you in the right direction.

Cloaking
Free cloaking and lockers are available at the Information Desk. Some items are not permitted in the museum, like backpacks and umbrellas.

Sensory Info
Parts of Mona can be very dark, bright, loud or smelly. If you need somewhere quiet for a break, try the library, or parent and carer room on B3. You're also welcome to leave the building and return on the same ticket on the same day. Speak to gallery staff if you need assistance. Check out this map before you visit.

Museum Information
If visiting Mona, we recommend downloading the O before your visit. It includes information about the art on display, plus a visitor guide and maps, pinpointing useful stuff like the three lifts, parent and carer room, and accessible toilets. The O supports VoiceOver and screen reader functionality. The map includes access information such as stairs, ramps, loud noises, dark/bright spaces, smells
